Finding a Plot for an Oak Framed House

This is possibly the most difficult aspect for any building project, often overlooked until the search for one begins. The site for your building is very important as it affects the design and your own living environment. If you are having trouble finding a plot you could consider a stone barn with planning permission, which can then have a full oak frame erected on the inside or even just an oak roof. This can often be as cheap as a building plot and also easier to get planning permission on.

Another route is to buy a redundant building or perhaps a bungalow, this can then be completely rebuilt, swallowing up the original to make a great house. There are also a number of plot-finding services available, which will help find you a plot for a commission.  Once you have found a plot you will need to check whether it has outline planning permission (this is usually obtained before the sale of the property is complete).
